Guitar/Remnants of a Rebellion
Q. What song or artist inspired you to be a drummer?
A. Suprisingly it was no famous artist or anything like that. It was actually my first buddy that I ever jammed with's brother. I started playing guitar first but when i saw him drum, my first thought that ran threw my head was " I wanna do that instead!" After a few years I bought my first kit and it just clicked with me alot better then guitar or bass did. I learned quickly and it has brought me so much farther than any instrument I have picked up.
Q. If you could be something other than the drummer, what would you do in the band?
A. I would probably be a Sound Engineer or rhythm guitarist, but definetly a Sound Engineer first. I really enjoy doin' live audio and gettin' that right mix whether it be for FOH (Front of House) or for monitors for the band. Just something I've always enjoyed doin'.
Q. What was the name of your first band?
A. My first band I was in was named 'I Wish I'. In our later time we changed the name to 'The Harbinger", but that was a terrible idea! Hahaha.
Q. What was the first song, original or cover, that band was really good at playing?
A. 'Unholy Confessions' by Avenged Sevenfold was our first cover we had down. First song we wrote was a song called 'Birth of a Hero' which I still go back and listen to today.
Q. Most interviews ask what one of your songs means, however this question flips it. What does one of your favorite songs from another artist mean to you?
A. Well one of my favorite songs is 'Solsbury Hill' by Peter Gabriel because it was one of the first songs I heard after my grandmothers funeral which was the first major death I dealt with as a child, so it was very hard for me. The song spoke to me and sorta' ensured me that after she passed she would be happy being taken "home" to see the rest of her family and friends on the other side, to not be sad and let her go, and that she will always be with me. This song, still do this day, gets me teary eyed.
Q. What’s one of your favorite lyrics from a song?
A. Probably has to be from a band called 'Upon a Burning Body'. The song is 'Texas Blood Money' and the lyric of it goes....
"Now my friends lay me down to sleep
A fifth of whiskey down by my feet
If I should die before I wake
Tell everyone that I drank it straight"
Thought that was too badass.
Q. What’s one of your favorite quotes from a movie?
A. Has to be “I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.” — Jango Fett, Star Wars: Episode 2
Q. Name a place in the world you would like to visit?
A. I have always wanted to visit the island of Crete in Greece. Most amazing scenery and some of the freshest seafood you can eat!!! I need that in my life.
Q. Other than spending time with your family or on your music, what do you like to do with your spare time?
A. I like to take super long bike rides (at least 16 miles) through the forest preserves in my area. I also really enjoy finding new place to eat and finding good diners to go to. Love my coffee and food. Other than that, I fix instruments and do computer repair and building as well.
Q. OK, LET'S FINISH RAPID FIRE STYLE. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG BY?
"It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll)"
Alice In Chains
Rage Against The Machine
