I woke to my phone alarm at 5:00 a.m. It was still completely dark outside. It was also pretty cold as we were parked right on the lakefront. Since we had plenty of time before the sun came up we went to the gas station to fill up the tank. The attendant was having a rough morning because the night attendant had someone drive off without paying and didn't bother to report it.
When we got back, I tried some slow shutter techniques, did some light painting, and walked out on the pier for some different angles. Erected in 1872, the wooden structure stands 32' tall. It was pretty chilly out on the lake but the pictures were worth it. I ended up taking pictures for about an hour as the sun came up. I walked back to the car, where my mom was patiently waiting, and we headed to the next lighthouse.
