Now we come to our sixth and final lighthouse for the day, Point Betsie. This was the main one on my mom's lighthouse list. She had been here before, but it had been quite some time.
Although the tower is only 37' tall, the light is actually 52' feet above shore. You can see in this picture that steel walls have been installed to fight the eroding shoreline. This was among the busiest of all the lighthouses on our trip. It does provide a great view and is very easy to get to.
Now almost 5:00 p.m. we headed to Traverse City. We were ready to eat and it was halftime of the Packers game on the radio so we pulled into a great restaurant called Mc Gees No. 72. Great service, and great food. Highly recommend this place if you are in Traverse City. We both ordered burgers and fries. We watched the rest of the Packers - Niners game, got in the car, and headed to Mackinaw City for the night. We arrived at our hotel around 8:30 p.m. and slept in actual beds for the night.
