It was the end of our fourth day of travel. My mom stayed back at the hotel and I went out to take some night shots. First I went back to Split Rock to see if I could get some of it with the stars. I pulled into the parking lot and got my stuff ready. I got out of the car and began walking. Wow was it dark. I mean dark, nothing around. It was creepy out there by myself, too creepy. So I turned around, walked back to the car and got out of there.
I headed down the highway a little to see if I could see it from the shore below. I pulled off on a scenic outlook, drove around to see if anyone else was there, parked, and got my gear. I set up and started some long exposures. I cannot express how dark it was there. The highway was dead, zero traffic. I started hearing something rustling in the woods. So I picked my stuff up, and once again, got out of there.
I headed back towards the hotel, pulled off on the side of the highway and got this shot. I was so freaked out by the dark and the sounds, I was only at this spot for a couple minuets. When I got back to the hotel, I got out of the car and heard some water running. It sounded like it was coming from north of the hotel. I jumped back in the car, drove about 1/4 mile up the road, and there was a waterfall. I knew where our day was going to start in the morning. I went back to the hotel and slept.
So day four included a boat cruise of the Apostle Islands, five lighthouses, a creepy night shoot, and a waterfall.
